Foreigners that serve in the Russian military will not be extraditated
amendments to laws:.
"On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation"

Instead of deportation
foreigners will be punished with a fine
1,000 to 50,000 rubles
or compulsory labor [ communit service ] - for up to 200 hours
according to Russia's Ministry of Justice
the document seeks to protect foreigners and stateless persons who served in the Russian Armed Forces
from possible entry bans, as well as from the threat of deportation and readmission.
Readmission is the expulsion of a person not to the country of which he is a citizen,
but to the state from which he came.
Amendments remove the ability of Russian authorities to deny temporary residence permits
and permanent residence permits to this category of foreigners.
Documents already issued can't be revoked
not can their validity be shortened.

Russian conscripts systematically coerced and pressured by soldiers for almost a week
to sign contracts on a train car travelling to military units in Primorsky Krai
Of the 300 conscripts aboard the train from December 8 - 15, 2025
more than a 100 signed military contracts with Russia's Ministry of Defense against their will.

The conscripts begin to fall ill,
train carriages were cold
the windows were frozen
and there was no drinking water.

the carriages were left open and sergeants and officers walked freely among them
calling on conscripts one by one for a "chat."
In the first few days, the pressure was gentle,
conscripts were persuaded and "explained the benefits" of signing a contract:
"They said: 'You'll have nothing in civilian life, but here you'll earn money.
It'll be easier for you as a contract soldier than for conscripts.
You'll live separately, and the conditions are better"
According to the conscripts,
they don't know the names of most of the soldiers who persuaded them to sign a contact,

"I remember there was one piece of paper.

that the contract is two sheets.
I don't remember there being two"
The train's chief of staff ordered everyone's phones confiscated
"They only returned our phones the day before our arrival,
so we could call and let them know [ our family ] we were okay.
We couldn't talk long
It's like they forced you there [ the military unit ] at gunpoint"
"I approached the company commander, Senior Lieutenant - Tural Kurbanov,
and told him I wanted to break my contract.
They told me, 'Go to the guy you signed with,'"

"They won't let us go just like that [ terminate the military contract ]
I can't even go see him.
They said, 'It's your own fault you signed it."
While on the train, another conscript complained of similar humiliation:
"Two agitators without military rank approached me without introducing themselves.
They forced me to sign a contract and threatened my health, both mentally and physically.
For every refusal, they forced me to do squats and twisted my arms.
Unable to bear the physical abuse, I signed the contract while lying on the floor."
For three days, the conscripts were woken up at night
and forced to perform physical exercise
"For everey refusal [ to sign the contract ],
we had to do 50 squats,
while being humiliated,
and having our health threatened.
At the same time, we weren't feeling well
- we had high fever and blood pressure issues."
Another conscript at 21 years old graduated from Miass Medical College [ June 2025 ] in Chelyabinsk Oblast
complained of similar humiliation abroad the train travelling to military units in Primorsky Krai
"Since I have a medical background, I was told as a young specialist,
I wouldn't be sent to the combat zone, to the Siberian Military District.
To qualify as a combat veteran, I'd have to even ask the commanders to send me there for two weeks.
And only if absolutely necessary, in the event of mobilization, would be sent to the combat zone"
The conscript was told he would be able to enroll in a university funded by the Ministry of Defense,
serve his entire military service in a medical battalion, and after his contract ended
he would be able to resign and return to his former civilian life. He asked to think about it.
"The next morning, during wake-up, they woke me up and asked,
'Are you going to sign the contract?'
I refused - and then they started humiliating me.
They said, 'You're not a man,'
'Do you want your mother to take a bulletproof vest
a helmet, and a machine gun and defend the country for you?'"
Under such psychological pressure, the conscript agreed to sign the military contract:
"I asked why two and not one
- they told me there were no one-year contracts available right now, only two.
I signed the contract twice.
They gave me a prepared, typed report, which I hadn't even written, but I signed it.
They gave me a third document, which I didn't even have a chance to read, or the contract itself.
I signed that, too.
And then they said, 'That's it, you're free'
They didn't give me a copy of the contract"
Conscripts who signed their contracts on the train were assigned to different units in Primorsky Krai
According to a Russian lawyer
Proving in court that a contract was signed under physical or psychological pressure
is extremely difficult in practice
"In fact, this is only possible if fellow soldiers agree to testify in court under oath
that there was physical or psychological pressure."
At the same time, the soldier must be give a certified copy of the contract
- with the commander's signature and seal,
as well as the details of the order entering into force.
If such a copy is not provided,
or if the certification committee's decision on a writen request is not confirmed,
the soldier can use these circumstances to challenge the contract
The situation in which reports on contract termination are refused remains widespread in the Russian military
Additionally, a service member can file a complaint
about the rejection of their report by calling the military prosecutor's office.
They can express their desire to resign from the contract.
Formally, conscripts are prohibited from owning smartphones,
submitting an online complaint is considerd a disciplinary offense
and can result in punishment or arrest
